Why the revolution?

Thousands of news stories have been done about the ongoing revolutions in the Middle East, but 95% of them say the same thing: the revolution was caused by facebook, wikileaks, bad dictators, good media coverage, and a fruit vendor in Tunisia. In Tom Friedman's latest article, he discusses some of the contributing factors largely ignored by the media.

Good and Bad Journalism

Some of you may have heard the rumor that President Obama's trip to India is running up the cost of $200 billion per day, which turns out to be totally untrue. CNN's Anderson Cooper broke the story a few days ago, which is less about Obama than it is about journalism. As Mark Twain once said, "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”
